What We Are Trying to Achieve
At Bark Smart, our mission is to educate children aged 4-11 on how to interact safely and responsibly with dogs. Through our engaging and interactive school program, we aim to instill lifelong knowledge about dog behaviour, safety, and responsible dog ownership.
By teaching children how to approach, understand, and respect dogs, we can reduce the risk of accidents, improve human-canine relationships, and build a generation that values canine welfare.
Why This Matters
Each year, preventable incidents occur due to misunderstandings between children and dogs. Many bites and negative interactions happen because children aren’t aware of how to read a dog’s body language or approach them safely. By bringing Bark Smart into schools, we are equipping young learners with the knowledge to stay safe while also encouraging kindness and empathy toward animals.
Beyond Schools
We are proud to take our sessions beyond schools, running programs in community centres, assisted living facilities, SEND schools, and holiday clubs, ensuring children and young people of all abilities have the opportunity to learn these essential skills.
